Discontinued

Announcement:

On October 31, 2015,  I will (regretfully) temporarily remove my fishing game from public access. The Fishing Game evolved from Dennis Meadows’ Fishbanks game in the mid 1990’s when I created a version of Fishbanks that I used in my class on Oceanography. Since then, I have made extensive changes, revisions, and improvements to differentiate my game from Fishbanks. The application has evolved into the “Fishing Game”, which is played online against virtual fishing companies, under a choice of management scenarios, rather than live teams. But because there are still remnants of the original Fishbanks game contained within the “Fishing Game”, Dr. Meadows demands that I remove this game from my web site. I apologize for any inconvenience you might incur. The authoring system I used for this application is now obsolete and the effort to make significant changes at this point is too high relative to the return. I will be continuing to create applications that demonstrate, through gaming, the "Tragedy of the Commons." There may be a new version of "Fishing Game" that will run on mobile and tablet devices, as well as the desktop. Wait and see.

You can access the MIT version of Fishbanks, which has added most of the new features I developed, at: https://forio.com/simulate/mit/fishbanks/simulation/login.html

Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments at author@earthednet.org

The fishing game is no longer available. Please access the MIT web site link (above) to assign this game to your class. Also, please watch for a new version that will be offered at this site. Registered users will be notified by email when it is available.
